The No. 1 West Chester field hockey team lost their first game of the season on Friday, dropping their Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Semifinal match against No. 3 Kutztown 3-2 in overtime.
How it Happened:
- The Golden Bears got on the board quickly as Alyssa Donato scored just over three minutes into the match. | KU 1-0
- The Golden Rams responded in the second quarter as Caitlin Kelly (Coatesville, Pa. / Bishop Shanahan) scored her 16th goal of the season. | WCU 1-1
- The score remained 1-1 into the third quarter, when Sophie Ruppert (Manheim, Germany / Ludwing-Frank) took the lead for West Chester with her second goal of the season. | WCU 2-1
- With under five minutes to go in regulation, Kutztown's Donato scored her second goal of the day on a penalty stroke, tying the game. | WCU 2-2
- Two and a half minutes into overtime, Kutztown earned a penalty corner. Mackenzie Fuhrman scored off the corner, giving Kutztown the game-winning goal. | KU 3-2
