ALBANY, N.Y. - For the first time in West Chester University's women's soccer history, the team extends its season into December. West Chester enters the third round of the NCAA Tournament for the eighth time since 2005. The last time the Golden Rams ventured this far into the NCAAs was in 2017. That year, West Chester was able to beat PSAC rival East Stroudsburg, 2-0, and moved onto the NCAA Quarterfinals.

The Golden Rams travel to the Capital Region of New York State to take on Bloomsburg University Friday morning at 10 a.m. Host Saint Rose will play Molloy College in the East Region Final on Friday following the West Chester-Bloomsburg contest. The winners of those two games on Friday will meet on Sunday for the right to go to the national semifinals.

There has been a venue change for the soccer matches this weekend. The game will now be played at Afrims Sports Park in Colonie, NY. The GPS address for the park is:

969 Watervliet Shaker RD
Colonie, NY 12205

West Chester brings an impressive overall record of 17-12-8 (.568) in the NCAA Tournament into Friday's third-round match. The Golden Rams are 3-1-2 (.667) in the third round since the tournament field expanded in 2007 and bring a personal three-match winning streak in this round into today's tilt. West Chester pulled off third-round wins in 2012, 2014 and 2017. The Golden Rams tied their third-round match in 2010 and advanced on penalty kicks to the quarterfinals. West Chester has not been eliminated in the third round of the tournament since 2008.

West Chester is an even 1-1-1 against Bloomsburg on the 2019 season. The Golden Rams dropped a 2-0 decision in Bloomsburg on Oct. 9, but managed a scoreless tie at home on Nov. 6. West Chester then eliminated the top seed out of the PSAC East in the postseason conference tournament, 2-1 in double overtime, in Bloomsburg on Nov. 12. West Chester carries an overall series lead of 22-15-5 against Bloomsburg into Friday's game while showing a record of 0-3-1 overall against Saint Rose and 2-0-0 against Molloy. West Chester and Bloomsburg have met just once in the NCAA Tournament with the Golden Rams prevailing, 2-0, in 2010.
