LAKELAND, Fla. – The West Chester University men's tennis team closed out their time in the Sunshine State on Thursday morning by falling 7-0 against Warner University in Lakeland.
The Golden Rams dropped to 0-5 this season following the loss and Thursday's defeat caps of a winless spring break trip for the Purple & Gold. West Chester returns to action next Tuesday (March 19) on the road against Saint Thomas Aquinas, before opening conference play versus Mercyhurst on March 23 in Erie. The Golden Rams' first home event of the spring is a contest against Harford Community College on March 27, with that match kicking off a four-match home stand for West Chester at the South Campus Courts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Royals (7-9) got the doubles point following victories at first and second flight. Even though doubles was already decided, the WCU tandem of Gavin Kenny (HANOVER, PA SOUTH WESTERN) and Brett Spano did manage to take No. 3 doubles 8-6, although it did not count toward the team's point total.
- Warner ended the match by taking all six singles points, but Kenny and Devin Paulison (MILFORD, PA/DELAWARE VALLEY) were both able to push their matches into tiebreakers at their respective positions.
