DAHLONEGA, Ga Despite a comeback effort in the bottom of the seventh, West Chester softball (0-1) dropped its first game of the season to Southern Wesleyan (4-4), 4-2 on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The game was scoreless until the top of the fifth, when Southern Wesleyan scored one run following a leadoff triple.
- Southern Wesleyan added three runs in the top of the seventh to increase their lead to 4-0.
- West Chester attempted to rally in the bottom of the seventh as senior Courtney Stump (Kutztown, Pa. / Kutztown) hit a two-run double to score Jaime Klemas (South Brunswick, N.J. / South Brunswick) and Katelyn Rittenbaugh (Donaldson, Pa. / Pine Grove).
- The Golden Rams would load the bases with two outs in the bottom of the seventh but could not connect to break the lead.

INSIDE THE STATS:
- Senior pitcher Reilly Gearhart (Lancaster, Pa. / Manheim Township) pitched 4 1/3 innings while allowing one run on four hits.
- Stump batted one for three on the day with one double and two RBI's.
- Â Senior Emily Maseth (Westminster, Md. / Westminster) was one for three and hit a double for the Golden Rams.

OUTSIDE THE BOX:
- Maseth's double was the 45th of her collegiate career. She is now five doubles behind 2003 alum Beth Frey for the most in program history.
