GENEVA, Ohio - Senior
Georgia Wright (Doncaster, England) won the 1000-yard freestyle this evening and set a new NCAA record in the process on the first day of competition at the 2020 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships at the Spire Institute.

With a time of 9 minutes, 45.86 seconds, Wright won the event for the fourth year in a row. She has now won eight individual national titles in her collegiate career at West Chester.

Sophomore A
nn Carozza (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) finished eighth in the 50 free with a time of 23.39 seconds to earn 11 more points for the Golden Rams.

Emma O'Neill (Glenside, Pa./Abington) placed 33rd in the 1000 free as well.

West Chester is in 12th place after Day 1 with a total of 31 points. Competition resumes on Thursday at 10 a.m. for preliminaries while the evening session will begin at 6 p.m.
