Game Recap: Field Hockey |

West Chester Downs Frostburg State, 14-0

WEST CHESTER, PA – Both Valerie Van Kuijck (Denbosch, The Netherlands) and Claudia Jaszczak (Coatesville, Pa./Downingtown West) registered hat tricks as No. 2 West Chester walked past Frostburg State, 14-0, at Vonnie Gros Field Saturday afternoon.

West Chester (11-3) started early with three goals in the first six minutes. Van Kuijck had her natural hat trick by the end of the first quarter, and the Golden Rams were well in control of the contest from there.

The 14 goals scored, and the 14-goal margin of victory, are both new school records, topping the old mark of 13 set back in 1978 when the Golden Rams defeated Central Washington, 13-0, en route to their fourth straight national championship.

Olivia Quagliero (South Hampton, N.J./Seneca) scored a pair of goals and added an assist in the win. Jaclyn Charbonneau (Voorhees, N.J./Ocean City) picked up her first career goal as well.

West Chester outshot Frostburg State, 40-2, and led in penalty corners, 18-4. Claire Nielsen (Wescosville, Pa./Emmaus) did not have to make a save in the first half. She picked up the win in the cage. Megan Gula (Lincoln University, Pa./Avon Grove) played the second half and did not have to make a save either. Frostburg State's Maggie Haupt made 14 saves for the visitors.

West Chester travels to Kutztown next Wednesday, before returning home one week from today for Senior Day and the regular-season finale.
