Women's Swimming Topples Bloomsburg, 125-75

MEET RESULTS

BLOOMSBURG, PA – Ann Carozza (West Chester, Pa./East) and Mikayla Niness (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) each won three events to pace visiting West Chester to a 125-75 victory over host Bloomsburg Friday evening.

Both swam the 200-yard medley relay that helped West Chester lead off the meet with a win in a time of 1:45.95. Lila DiCarlo (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) and Maddy Koehle (State College, Pa./State College Area) swam the first two legs of that relay win. Niness then won both the 100 and 200 freestyle while Carozza captured the 50 free and 100 butterfly with the latter an NCAA 'B" qualifying time of 55.26 seconds.

"Ann and Mikayla both work hard enough that we plug them in just about anywhere, and they just keep getting better," WCU head coach Steve Mazurek said.

Keeley Durkin (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) continued her success in the distance events, winning the 500 free and the 1000 free. Maddie Myers (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) and Danielle Stewart (Dover, Del./Caeser Rodney) placed second and third behind Durkin, respectively, in the 1000 free. Caitlin Hamill (Collegeville, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) and Stewart finished second and third behind Durkin in the 500 free.

Sophia Gerhart (Spring Mills, Pa./Penn Valley Area) won the 200 individual medley for the Golden Rams as well.

West Chester will now turn its attention to the Kenyon College Invitational in the middle of November for its next competition. The divers, idle on Friday, will compete at the Rowan Invitational Nov. 14.
