DAY 3 RESULTS
COMPLETE RESULTS

GAMBIER, OHIOAnn Carozza (West Chester, PA/West Chester East) continued her dominating show on Saturday winning the 200-yard butterfly, and Mikayla Niness (Spring City, PA/Owen J. Roberts) won the 100 freestyle, as West Chester finished the final day of the Top Performance Invitational at Kenyon University second overall in the team standings.

West Chester put up 1,922 points in the three-day event. Host Kenyon won with 2,961 points, and Carnegie Mellon was third with 1,546.5 on the six-team field.

"I've never had so much fun coaching a team," WCU head coach Steve Mazurek said about both his men's and women's teams. "They are not afraid to work, and they love to race. This was our first championship-style meet since March 2020, and it was as if they never skipped a beat."

Carozza posted two more automatic NCAA qualifying times while breaking a PSAC record and team record in the 400 freestyle relay and helping them qualify for nationals. Carozza won the 200 butterfly in 1 minute, 57.99 seconds that broke the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference record in that event. She also led off the 400 free relay with a time in the 100 that broke former WCU great Jackie Borkowski's school record and was an NCAA 'A" cut time. The 400 free relay posted a time of 3:22.74 that set a new PSAC mark and qualified it for nationals.

Niness hit a 'B' time while winning the 100 free in 50.28 seconds. That time is the third best mark in school history. Keeley Durkin (Brookhaven, PA/Sun Valley), who won the 1650 free in a photo finish, was sixth in the 100 free. Samantha Trumble (Dallastown, PA/Dallastown) was ninth. Durkin held off Kenyon's Sarah Hoffman (17:12.32) to win the mile in exciting fashion. Those times are 'B' cut times for the two swimmers. Madalyn Myers (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) was fifth while Caitlin Hamill (Collegeville, PA/Villa Maria Academy) placed sixth and Danielle Stewart (Dover, DE/Caeser Rodney) touched ninth.

Both Madelyn Koehle (State College, PA/State College Area) and McKenzie Hemingway (Chestertown, MD/Queen Anne's County) recorded personal bests in the 200 breaststroke. Koehle placed third in that event while Hemingway was eighth.

Sophia Ginocchetti (Forty Fort, PA/Wyoming Valley West) was West Chester's top female diver off the 3m board with a score of 408.35. Teammate Shannon O'Hara (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Twp.) was right behind her in fourth (393.15), and Evie Altland (Middletown, PA/Lancaster Country Day) was sixth (331.65). Gabby Arra (Havertown, PA/Haverford) placed eighth with a score of 316.05.

West Chester will head down south for a portion of the winter break. The Golden Rams will be back in the pool up north on Jan. 22 at Delaware.
