Meet Results

WEST CHESTER, PA – West Chester University's Ann Carozza (West Chester, Pa./East) won three individual events and helped one relay to a victory as the host Golden Rams dropped a narrow decision to visiting Division I Pennsylvania, 154-145, Friday night at Graham Natatorium.

The Golden Rams won seven events with six of those times serving as an NCAA 'B' time. The one that was not a B-cut time (100-yard breaststroke) fell short by only .24 of a second. Mikayla Niness (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) won both the 50 and 100 freestyle while also swimming the anchor leg of the two relay wins. McKenzie Hemingway (Chestertown, Md./Queen Anne's County) won the 100 breast with that 1 minute, 4.32 second time that was almost a B-time. She also swam the second leg of the two relays that finished first.

Carozza continued her dominance in the pool with wins in both the 100 and 200 butterfly while also winning the 200 free. She swam the third leg of the 200 medley relay as well. Callie Paff (York, Pa./Central York) led off that relay while also earning a pair of runner-up performances in both the 100 and 200 backstroke.

Keeley Durkin (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) won the 500 free in 5:00.28 that was a 'B' time. Sophie Gerhart (Spring Mills, Pa./Penn Valley Area) won the 400 individual medley in 4:26.71 that was also a 'B' time.

Sophomore diver Evie Altland (Middletown, Pa./Lancaster Country Day) placed third in the 1-meter and fourth in the 3m springboard competitions.

The UPenn meet was the final regular-season competition for the Golden Rams and served as the team's senior meet. West Chester will now begin training for the 2022 PSAC Women's Swimming Championships February 16-19 in York, Pa.
