No. 7 West Chester Downs Mercy, 21-12

DOBBS FERRY, NY - Keri Barnett (Glenolden, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) scored six goals, and Hannah Stanislawczyk (Mohnton, Pa./Gov. Mifflin) added five as No. 7 West Chester picked up an impressive, 21-12, non-league victory over 13th-ranked Mercy College on the road Wednesday.

West Chester (8-1) went on a 6-0 run over the final eight minutes of the first quarter to turn a 3-2 deficit into an 8-3 advantage over Mercy (6-4) that it would not relinquish the rest of the way. Stanislawczyk powered the decisive run with a natural hat trick over a period of 2 minutes, 39 seconds.

Another six-goal run that began at the end of the first half with the first tally and continued with the first five markers of the second half pushed a 10-7 lead to 16-7. Barnett, Stanislawczyk and Helen Kreschollek (Bethlehem, Pa/Saucon Valley) each potted a pair of goals during that spurt.

Lindsay Monigle (Rehoboth Beach, Del./Cape Henlopen) orchestrated the offensive explosion once again with a game-high eight points (3G, 5A). Barnett and Stanislawczyk each added one assist to finish with seven and six points, respectively.

Jessica Gorr (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) made 15 saves in the cage to improve to 4-0 on the year. West Chester harassed Mercy into 18 turnovers, four of those were caused by Julia Rossi (Hamilton Square, N.J./Notre Dame).

West Chester steps back into conference play Saturday with a 1 p.m. showdown at Shippensburg.
