Men's Golf Finishes in Tie for Sixth at Atlantic/East Regional Championships; Fassnacht Finishes in Tie for Eighth

VICTOR, N.Y.- Brock Fassnacht (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) climbed his way back up the leaderboard on Saturday afternoon, eventually finishing in a tie for eighth after registering a one-over 73 to finish with a three-day score of four-over-par (220) for the Championship. As a team, West Chester continued its climb up the team leaderboard on Saturday afternoon, moving into a tie for sixth after registering a third-round score of 301, which led to a three-day score of 899 (299-299-301). St. Thomas Aquinas led throughout the Tournament and eventually claimed the Regional Title with a three-day score of 881 after recording a team score of 295 (+7) on Saturday afternoon. Jordan Hyland of Davis & Elkins found his way from second place into first after registering a 70 (-2) in the final round to finish at three-under for the Tournament and pass Nolan Skaggs of St. Thomas Aquinas, who had led entering play on Saturday morning.

Fassnacht's eighth-place finish is believed to be the best individual finish by a Golden Ram since Tyler Maiman finished in a tie for sixth at the 2016 Atlantic/East Regional Championship. The team's sixth-place finish is also believed to be the best finish for the Golden Rams at the Division II Atlantic/East Regional Championships during head coach Harry Hammond's tenure at the helm, passing the previous top finish of seventh, which was last recorded at the same 2016 Atlantic/East Regional Championship, which was also played in Upstate New York in Baldwinsville, New York outside of Syracuse.

Fassnacht played stood at even par for much of the back nine on Saturday afternoon after registering birdies on the par-five 12th and par-four 13th before registering a bogey on the par-five 18th to conclude his round with a score of 73 (+1) and move to four-over for the Tournament.

Chris Warner (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) and Jacob Sokalsky (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) each finished in a tie 34th after registering final round scores of 76 (+4) and 75 (+3), respectively, to finish +8 on the Tournament. Warner made the turn at even-par after registering birdie on three of the final four holes of the front nine, but a stretch, which saw him bogey three of the first four holes on the back nine, led to his final round 76 and an eventual 34th-place finish.

Austin Schreffler (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York) moved his way up the leaderboard on Saturday afternoon, thanks in large part to a pair of birdies on two par-fives (6th, 12th), as he signed for a 77 (+5) to finish in a tie for 78th (+17) for the Tournament. Connor Strine (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) slipped down the leaderboard slightly on Saturday afternoon, finishing with a nine-over-par 81, and a three-day score of 235 (+19) to finish in a tie for 83rd.
