Women's Swimming and Diving Edged by NYU on Senior Day

WEST CHESTER, Pa.-
The West Chester women's swimming and diving team returned to the pool for the second time in two days vs NYU on Saturday morning in its Senior Day meet. West Chester competed well throughout the afternoon, but NYU was able to edge out the Golden Rams for a 122-120 victory to conclude the regular season.

Prior to Saturday afternoon's meet, West Chester honored its two seniors Ann Carozza (West Chester, Pa./East) and Lauren Michaels (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area).

West Chester started the morning off with a victory in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1 minute and 46.06 seconds as the team of DiCarlo, Hemingway, Carozza, and Trumble starred for the Golden Rams in this event.

Keeley Durkin (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) led West Chester in the 1000 free with a time of 10:31.33 to place second, while Danielle Stewart (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) was close behind in third in 10:40.56.

Ann Carozza (West Chester, Pa./East) picked up an impressive victory on the 200 free, winning in 1:52.59, three seconds ahead of the second-place finisher from NYU. Carozza also picked up a victory in the 100 fly with a time of 55.10, while Mallory Pardoe (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) was fourth in 59.23.

Mikayla Niness (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) followed up Carozza's 200 free victory with a victory in the 50 free in 24.24, while Skylar Strunk (Mertztown, Pa./Brandywine Heights) was third in 25.22. Niness also earned a victory in the 100 free with a time of 52.56, while Samantha Trumble (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown) was fourth in 54.42.

McKenzie Hemingway (Chestertown, Md./Queen Anne's County) was also victorious in the 200 IM with a time of 2:10.58, just ahead of teammate Isabella Kil (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro), who was second in 2:11.31. Hemingway also earned a victory in the 100 breast with a time of 1:05.77, while Maddy Koehle (State College, Pa./State College Area) was second in 1:06.72.

Lila DiCarlo (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) led West Chester in the 100 back with a time of 59.55 seconds, while Lauren Michaels (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) was fifth in 1:03.09.

In the 500 free, Durkin took third in 5:13.56, followed by Caitlin Hammill (Collegeville, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) in fifth in 5:18.42.

Evie Atland (Middletown, Pa./Lancaster County Day) finished fourth in the three-meter diving competition with a score of 208.43. Atland also finished fourth in the one-meter diving competition with a score of 212.48, while Gabby Arra (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) was fifth with a score of 178.58.

West Chester concluded the meet with an exciting win in the 400 free relay behind the efforts of Trumble, Kil, Durkin, and Niness in a time of 3:32.93 while also taking fourth and fifth in times of 3:40.89 and 3:49.11.

After today's meet, West Chester will not compete again until February 15th in what will be the first day of the PSAC Swimming Championships in York, Pennsylvania.
