KUTZTOWN, PA –
Lindsay Monigle (Rehoboth Beach, Del./Cape Henlopen) registered a game-high eight points, and
Keri Barnett (Glenolden, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) scored six goals, to lead top-ranked West Chester to a 19-8 victory over host Kutztown in a battle for first place in the league standings Wednesday afternoon.
West Chester (9-0, 5-0 PSAC East) remained unbeaten and took over sole possession of first place in the league standings with the win over Kutztown (6-2, 3-1).
The Golden Rams scored the first four goals of the game and led 6-1 after the first quarter.
Monigle scored four goals and added four assists in her triumphant return to the lineup. Barnett scored six tallies and assisted on another for a seven-point afternoon.
Hannah Stanislawczyk (Mohnton, Pa./Gov. Mifflin) contributed five goals for the Golden Rams as well.
Jessica Gorr (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) made a career-high 14 saves in the cage for West Chester. Gorr and the Golden Rams' defense held its opponent in single digits for the sixth straight game and the eighth time in the team's nine games so far.
West Chester travels to Greensburg, Pa., Saturday to take on the defending national champion University of Indianapolis at 4 p.m. That game will be played on the campus of Seton Hill University.
