Strine Climbs 28 Spots to Tie for 34th After Day Two

Leaderboard
LEBANON, Pa.- Ryan D'Ariano (West Chester, Pa./Rustin)
and Connor Strine (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) both made moves up the leaderboard at the second day of the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Championships at Iron Valley Golf Club in Lebanon, Pa.

Iron Valley is a par-72 course, playing to a yardage of 6,636 yards this weekend for the Regional Championship, and both D'Ariano and Strine improved upon their placements from day one, with D'Ariano moving up to a tie 28th after shooting a four-over 76 for the second day in a row, to move to +8 for the Championship. Strine moved up to a tie for 34th after shooting a two-over 74 to move to +9 for the Championship. Donte Groppuso continues to lead the field after day two, shooting another three-under 69 on Friday afternoon to move to -6 for the Championship.

D'Ariano made the turn at one-over for the round after carding birdies on the par-three fifth and par-four sixth, along with the par-four ninth, which helped offset a pair of bogey's to start his round and a double-bogey on the eighth. The freshman held steady at one-over for much of the early part of his back nine but bogeyed the 14th along with the 17th and 18th on his way in, finishing the back with a 39 and a 76 for the round.

Strine, who started his day with a double-bogey on the first, recovered nicely, registering a pair of birdies on the par-five third and seventh, which helped him take the turn at just one over for the day. On the back, Strine bogeyed the 10th, 13th, and 15th but went two-under over the final three holes, recording a birdie on the par-five 16th and the 18th to finish with a second-round 74 (+2). This effort helped Strine climb 28 spots, moving into a tie for 34th, which is just behind D'Ariano, who is in a tie for 28th at eight-over for the Championship, while Strine is nine over entering play on Saturday afternoon.

The third and final day of the 54-hole event will be played on Saturday as Strine and D'Ariano look to continue their climb up the individual leaderboard.
