West Chester Races Past Seton Hill in NCAA Atlantic Region Semifinal, 21-8

WEST CHESTER, PA – Keri Barnett (Glenolden, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) scored six goals, and Hannah Stanislawczyk (Mohnton, Pa./Gov. Mifflin) added five more, as No. 1 West Chester topped No. 22 Seton Hill, 21-8, in the NCAA Atlantic Region semifinals at sun-splashed Vonnie Gros Field Friday afternoon.
 
West Chester (20-0) advances to the region final to take on East Stroudsburg (14-5), which was a 15-8 winner over Kutztown (13-6) in the other semifinal.
 
The Golden Rams ran out to a 3-0 lead in the first three minutes of the game. Seton Hill finally got going six minutes into the contest and traded goals with West Chester until the final minute. The Griffins potted a goal with 29 seconds left in the opening quarter. However, Lila McMahon-Skates (West Linn, Ore./West Linn) got that goal back with seven seconds to play and maintain the host's four-goal advantage.
 
West Chester went on an 8-1 over the second and third quarters to jump out to a 17-7 lead, and the result of the contest was in little doubt.
 
Lindsay Monigle (Rehoboth Beach, Del./Cape Henlopen) registered five points on the strength of two goals and three assists. McMahon-Skates scored a pair of goals, both in the first quarter, and Julia Littlewood (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) netted a pair. Taylor O'Brien (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) scored the first goal of the game and assisted on two others. Meg O'Donnell (Hatboro, Pa./Upper Moreland) had three assists.
 
Grace Frasso (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) had five ground balls and six draw controls. Stanislawczyk picked up seven draw controls and Barnett had five.
 
Jessica Gorr (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) made four saves to pick up the win.
 
West Chester will host East Stroudsburg on Sunday at 12 p.m. in the Atlantic Region final. The winnier of that game will go to Indianapolis, Ind., for the national semifinals.
