Softball Returns to NCAA Tournament as Four Seed

Will Face West Virginia Wesleyan in Opening Round at East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa.- The West Chester softball team (36-17) got the news it was waiting for on Monday morning as the Golden Rams earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament as a four seed, returning to the field after a one-year hiatus a season ago.

West Chester, who also captured a share of its first PSAC East Regular Season title since 2019, will head to East Stroudsburg for the opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament, squaring off against fifth-seeded West Virginia Wesleyan (43-15) in the first round with East Stroudsburg (38-16) and Bowie State (35-14) making the up other half of the Pod.

The Tournament will be held in East Stroudsburg this weekend beginning on Thursday, May 11 through Saturday, May 13 at Creekview Park in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. All ticket sales will be cash only and will be $10 per person per day while students with school ID, seniors ages 65+, veterans, and first responders will be $5 per person with children under two being admitted free of charge. Tickets will be available for sale on site only. 

PSAC Tournament Champion Shippensburg (32-18) claimed the second seed in the region while Charleston (W.V.) (40-9) ascended to the three seed and earned hosting rights, matching up against Kutztown (29-24) in its first-round matchup while Shippensburg will face off against seventh-seed Davis & Elkins (29-26) in the other matchup in that pod.
