WEST CHESTER, PA –
Elle Shockley (Delmar, Del./Delmar) scored in the aftermath of a penalty corner almost two minutes into the fourth quarter lifting West Chester to a 2-1 victory over visiting Adelphi on a hot and steamy Tuesday afternoon at Vonnie Gros Field.
West Chester (3-1) held off upset-minded Adelphi (1-3) the rest of the way for its second straight win.
Goalkeeper
Alina Buerger (Koenigs, Wusterhausen, Brandenburg, Germany) made four saves to pick up her first win as a Golden Ram in the cage.
Jasmine Miller (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 13th minute of the game to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. Adelphi's Hailey Galison tied the game on a penalty corner almost one minute later right before the end of the first quarter. That's how things stayed until the final frame.
West Chester outshot Adelphi by a 24-6 margin. Panthers goalkeeper Amanda Montiel made 11 saves. The Golden Rams held a 9-3 advantage on corners.
West Chester returns home to Vonnie Gros on Saturday afternoon for a 4 pm match against Mansfield.
