BLOOMSBURG, PA – Alyxandra Flick scored in the 24th minute for the contest's lone tally as fifth-ranked Bloomsburg posted a 1-0 victory over fourth-ranked West Chester in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) field hockey contest at Steph Pettit Stadium Tuesday afternoon.
West Chester (7-3, 1-1 PSAC) could not come up with the equalizer against Bloomsburg (9-2, 1-1), which avenged a 2-1 loss to the Golden Rams earlier in the season.
The Huskies limited their visitors to just three shots in the game and only one on goal. West Chester squandered a golden opportunity when
Jasmine Miller (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) and
Erin O'Donnell (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) had a 2-on-1 break with about four minutes left in the game, but could not finish.
Ryan Curley (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) made five saves in the cage for West Chester. Bloomsburg's Jackie Nevel stopped all three shots on cage to record the shutout.
West Chester will be back in action next Wednesday at 4 p.m. when No. 1 Shippensburg sails into town for a 4 p.m. PSAC tilt.
