MILLERSVILLE, PA – In perhaps her final college field hockey game in her hometown, West Chester forward
Jasmine Miller (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) scored two goals to lead the sixth-ranked Golden Rams to a 3-1 victory over the homestanding Millersville Marauders on a chilly Thursday evening inside Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.
Miller scored seven minutes into the contest to put West Chester (8-4, 2-2 PSAC) on top early. Senior
Millie Gallagher (Birmingham, England) potted her first goal of the season in the 26th minute to double the visitors' lead over Millersville (6-6, 2-3). Miller then increased West Chester's lead to three with her 11th of the season in the 48th minute. It was Miller's 41st career goal, moving her into fourth place on the all-time Division II scoring list at the school.
The Marauders spoiled the shutout bid by West Chester's
Ryan Curley (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) with a marker in the 55th minute. Curley made two saves to pick up her eighth win of the season.
The Golden Rams' win ended a two-game losing streak and signaled the second time this year that West Chester defeated Millersville. It also vaulted the Golden Rams into a tie for fifth place in the league standings.
West Chester will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to IUP for their conference tilt against the Crimson Hawks.
