Women's Swimming and Diving to Host Penn on Wednesday Night in 2025 Opener

WEST CHESTER, Pa.- After a strong performance at home versus Delaware prior to the holiday break, the West Chester University women’s swimming and diving team is preparing for their first meet of 2025 as the Golden Rams welcome the University of Pennsylvania to West Chester on Wednesday night beginning at 5 p.m.

SWIMMERS RETURN HOME WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON
West Chester returns home to Graham Natatorium for an in-season swim meet on Wednesday evening against the University of Pennsylvania.  The Golden Rams look to put in a strong performance against the Quakers, who have recently competed in an Ivy-league tri-meet at Yale, where they placed second out of three teams. 

West Chester is coming off a strong effort against the University of Delaware before the holiday break. They look to build off their last performance against the Blue Hens and after a long break and time in the pool look to swim away with a victory.

THE WOMEN – LAST TIME OUT

 West Chester swimmers made a lot happen at their last competition, with having strong swims and personal bestsLeading the pool for the Golden Rams was Danielle Stewart (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) won the 1,000 free in 10:43.04Sam Trumble (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown) who picked the up the second event victory of the night for West Chester in the 50 free, finishing in 24.16 seconds, and Susana Ungo-Quero (Madrid, Spain), who captured a victory of her own in the 200 IM with a time of 2:07.60 . Other strong performances were in the 200 free, where Koehle finished in second place, reaching the wall in 1:57.11, while Sam Heiland (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) and Shannon Gamble (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) were close behind, finishing in fourth and fifth, respectively. Koehle also finished second in the 100 breast with a time of 1:05.45.For the divers  Alicia McHugh (Jenkintown, Pa./Abington) led West Chester on the three-meter board with a second-place finish and a score of 255.38. McHugh also led West Chester on the one-meter board, finishing fifth with a score of 220.05.

COMING UP FOR THE GOLDEN RAMS

Friday night will be the Golden Rams first meet of 2025. The team will be back in action on January 25th vs NYU in the second of two straight at home for the final home meet of the 2024-25 season.
