Women's Swimming and Diving Falls to NYU on Senior Day

WEST CHESTER, Pa.-
Competing for the second time since Wednesday evening after opening 2025 vs. Penn on Wednesday, the West Chester University women's swimming and diving squad returned to the pool on Saturday for its home finale and Senior Day meet vs. New York University. West Chester battled throughout the day and got a number of strong swims, including a 200 IM triumph by Susana Ungo-Quero (Madrid, Spain), but it was not enough in a 179-64 setback against the Violets.

Prior to Saturday's meet, West Chester paused to recognize Senior swimmers Maddy Koehle (State College, Pa./State College Area), Sam Trumble (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown), Danielle Stewart (Dover, Del./Dover), and Ungo-Quero for their contributions to the Golden Rams throughout their careers wearing the Purple and Gold.

West Chester opened its Senior Day meet with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay in one minute and 48.87 seconds.

Dani Stewart (Dover, Del./Dover) took fourth in the 1000 free in 10:40.68, while Koehle was fourth in the 200 free in 1:59.42. Stewart also took fourth in the 500 free in 5:12.31.              

Koehle also finished second in the 100 breast in 1:05.93, while Lenya Ryan (Wilmington, Del./Mount Pleasant) was fifth in 1:08.62.

Trumble finished second in the 50 free with a time of 23.90 seconds before finishing second in the 100 free in 52.91 seconds, while Bella Kil (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro) took fourth in 54.20 seconds.

Ungo-Quero earned the first event victory of the day for West Chester with a win in the 200 IM as she touched the wall in 2:08.17 before finishing second in the 100 butterfly in 57.21 seconds.

Anna Evans (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) took third in the 100 backstroke in 1:00.83.

Kacey Lenz (Swarthmore, Pa./Ridley) took third off the three-meter board with a score of 249.45, while Alicia McHugh (Jenkintown, Pa./Abington) was fourth with a score of 244.80. On the one-meter board, McHugh took third with a score of 235.65, while Lenz was fifth at 212.03.

West Chester also finished second in the 400 free relay in a time of 3:34.32.

West Chester will not be back in swimming action until mid-February when the PSAC Championships begin on February 17, but it is scheduled dive next Saturday at La Salle.
