All-Time Series: Shippensburg, 18-11

WEST CHESTER, PA – West Chester University field hockey travels to face the Shippensburg University Raiders this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Robb Sports Complex. No. 1 Shippensburg is undefeated on the season, including a 3-2 overtime victory over West Chester in early September. Saturday's showdown will count in the conference standings.

The Golden Rams trailed 3-0 into the second quarter against Millersville on Wednesday, when they responded with five goals in the last three quarters. Fifth-ranked West Chester also came off of a recent 2-1 upset in overtime against then-No. 3 East Stroudsburg.

On Wednesday, Shippensburg defeated Frostburg State University 4-1, overcoming its second deficit of the season. In Shippensburg's conference opener last Saturday, the Raiders defeated IUP in a 3-0 shutout win.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN RAMS
West Chester is coming off a seven-game homestand that saw them win five of those contests, including four against nationally ranked opponents. The Golden Rams are riding a three-game winning streak into Saturday's showdown with the top team in the country.

These two teams have already met once this year. On September 9, the Golden Rams took a difficult loss in double overtime to Shippensburg at home. Leading goal scorer junior midfielder Veerle Hersman and senior forward Caitlynn Szarko each scored one goal in the contest against Shippensburg, but the Raiders responded in overtime for the win. Alexa Lehman tallied her first assist of the season to Szarko. The Golden Rams stand at 1-1 in overtime matchups this season, defeating East Stroudsburg in a 2-1 win this past Saturday. West Chester comes off an exciting win against Millersville as they prepare for Saturday's game.

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
Shippensburg holds the No. 1 spot in the weekly NFHCA Coaches Poll. The Raiders are currently undefeated winning all nine of their games so far this year. Senior forward, Lily Cantabene, has totaled seven goals this season with two coming in the team's matchup against Slippery Rock last week. Another key contributor for the Raiders' offense has been senior Kelly Nuadé, who scored in this season's game against the Golden Rams. She has a total of five goals on the season. The Raiders also came off an exciting win against Frostburg State, responding from being down 1-0 in the first quarter.

WCU FIELD HOCKEY A FAMILY AFFAIR
West Chester University has always prided itself on being one big happy family. This year's roster is an example of that as freshman Lily Coombs has joined her older sister, Emma, at West Chester. The two midfielders play up top in head coach Amy Cohen's system.
