WEST CHESTER, PA - Host West Chester could not break through visiting IUP's defense in falling 2-0 to the Crimson Hawks in the regular-season finale at Vonnie Gros Field Saturday afternoon.
West Chester (12-5, 6-3 PSAC) finished in a tie for third place in the league standings and will receive the four seed in the upcoming postseason tournament. Their opponent will be IUP (8-6, 4-4) on Tuesday at 4 p.m. right back at Vonnie Gros Field.
IUP's Jess Davidson scored both goals for the Crimson Hawks with the first coming off a penalty corner in the third quarter. She added an insurance tally in the fourth on a nice individual move that culminated in her lifting a shot past West Chester goalkeeper
Audra Syzmborski (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East).
The game was played between the 23-meter lines for the majority of the contest. The game mustered only seven shots a piece for each squad and a total of three penalty corners. Syzmborski and her counterpart from IUP, Celeste Pagliaroli, each made four saves.
