LOUISVILLE, Ky.- The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released its Division Player of the Year Watchlist on Thursday afternoon, and
Mairead Hopkins (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) was one of 15 players from the Atlantic Region to earn a spot on the list.
Hopkins is the second Golden Ram in the last three seasons to earn a spot on the list, which is released during the final days of March, following
Madison Melvin's inclusion in March 2023.
Voted on by the NFCA's Division II All-American Committee, the 2025 NFCA Player and Pitcher of the Year will be announced at the conclusion of the 2025 season. All student-athletes are eligible for the end-of-season award and do not need to be included on this list to be considered.
A first team All-Conference selection a year ago, Hopkins is already in the midst of another excellent season in 2025, batting a solid .375 (33-for-88) with 16 extra-base hits, including 10 doubles and six home runs, while also scoring 24 runs and driving in 24 more. Hopkins is slugging .693 on the season with a .403 on-base percentage as she has worked six walks and been hit by three pitches this season.
West Chester will be back in action on Friday afternoon at home against Mansfield, beginning at 1 p.m.
