SHEPHERDSTOWN, WVA – Visiting West Chester captured the doubles point and then took five of the six singles matches to complete a 6-1 win over Shepherd University in a PSAC men's tennis match Saturday.
West Chester (2-14, 1-4 PSAC East) secured its first PSAC victory to close out the 2025 campaign.
Andres Urrutia (Guatemala City, Guatemala) and
Mateus DeVascencellos (Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay) were 6-2 winners at second doubles while
Lucas Henke (Rockway, Texas) and
Sam Robertson (Reading, Pa.) were 6-0 winners at third doubles to clinch the one point for the visiting Golden Rams.
Urrutia came from behind to win his match at second singles. He dropped the first set, before rallying to win the second and third sets and win the point.
Brady Burns (Narvon, Pa. Peques Valley) was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at third singles, and
Felix Weber (Wolfenbuettel, Germany) was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at fourth singles. DeVascencellos was a winner at fifth singles when his opponent retired due to injury. Robertson was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at sixth singles.
