BRISTOL, Tn.- Hanna Lignell (Gothenburg, Sweden/Kitas Gymnasium) shot an opening-round 71 (E) to sit atop the individual leaderboard and help West Chester take a first round lead at the King University Invitational in Bristol on Monday afternoon.
Lignell, is one of three Golden Rams in the top-10 along with
Cara Murphy (Massillon, Ohio/Jackson) and
Fatima Rizvi (Lucknow, India/RPS Academies) who are both tied for seventh at +5 (76).
Lignell started the Tournament on the back nine in the final group off the 10
th tee at 10:30 this morning and carded a birdie on the par-five 14
th but went to the front nine at two-over par for her opening round. Lignell erased the memories of a double bogey on the 18
th with a quick birdie on the par-five second and another on the par-three sixth to get back to even par. Lignell bogeyed the par-three eighth but finished her day with a birdie on the par-five ninth to grab the individual lead by a stroke over Reagan Padilla of Tusculum.
Rizvi turned in an incredible front nine to climb from eight-over at the turn to just five-over for the Tournament with four consecutive birdies on the second through the fifth and an eagle on the ninth to wrap up her round with a 76.
