No. 7 West Chester Downs Bentley, 4-1

WALTHAM, MASS.Sofia Brown (Broomall, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) scored two goals and Nina Scott (Schwenksville, Pa./Spring-Ford) scored once and recorded a pair of assists to lead seventh-ranked West Chester to a 4-1 victory over host Bentley on a wet and soggy Sunday afternoon at Bentley Field.

West Chester (2-0) finished its opening road trip perfect after putting up four unanswered goals on Bentley (0-2), who scored the game's first goal, but was left off the scoresheet the rest of the way.

West Chester scored three of its four goals off penalty corners in the game to erase an early one-goal deficit.

Trailing 1-0 in the first quarter, Brown got the equalizer, the first of her career, for the Golden Rams when she took a shot that was saved and collected the rebound firing it past Bentley goalkeeper Annie Lorenz.

Bentley drew first blood in the second minute of the contest when Layla Conway tipped in a shot off a Falcons penalty corner. Brown leveled the score two minutes later.

Veerle Hershman (Lisse, The Netherlands) scored her first of the season off an assist from Scott on another penalty corner.

Scott got an insurance tally 22 seconds into the fourth quarter when she connected on a reverse blast off a pass from Allison Patel (Mickleton, N.J./Kingsway Regional).

Brown bookended West Chester's scoring with a tally off a penalty corner in the final minute of the game – her second on the day. Scott and Alexa Lehman (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) picked up assists on the late goal.

West Chester controlled the majority of the play on Sunday. The Golden Rams held a decided advantage in both shots and penalty corner opportunities.

Bentley's Lorenz made seven saves on the day trying to keep the Falcons close. The Golden Rams' Audra Szymborski (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East) was credited with two saves in picking up her second win of the opening weekend. Brown and Elle Shockley (Delmar, Del./Delmar) each recorded a defensive save as well.

West Chester returns home on Tuesday for an evening contest against Shippensburg at Vonnie Gros Field at 7 p.m.
