GETTYSBURG, Pa.- Cara Murphy (Massillon, Ohio/Jackson) fired an opening round 75 (+3) to help lead the West Chester University women's golf team to an opening round lead with a 307 team score after the first round of the WCU Battlefield Classic on Monday afternoon at the Links at Gettysburg.
Murphy is one of three Golden Rams in the top three as fellow newcomers
Hanna Lignell (Gothenburg, Sweden/Kitas Gymnasium) and
Fatima Rizvi (Lucknow, India/RPS Academies) each signed for a 76 (+4) and 77 (+5), respectively. Murphy picked up her first collegiate birdie on the par-four second to claim the opening-round lead.
The Golden Rams' second lineup sits in second after the opening round, led by a 78 (+6) from
Taryn Brandt (Denton, Md./North Caroline) as she also made her Golden Ram debut on Monday afternoon.
