WEST CHESTER, PA – Anna Finn (Windsor, N.Y./Windsor) scored on a penalty corner two minutes into the game, but visiting Kutztown scored three unanswered goals the rest of the way to secure a 3-1 victory over host West Chester in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) showdown of Top 5 opponents.
Fifth-ranked West Chester (8-5, 1-4) went on top in the first two minutes of the contest when Finn uncorked one of her signature blasts from the top of the circle off a penalty corner to give the Golden Rams a 1-0 lead. It marked the first time all season that No. 1 and undefeated Kutztown (14-0, 5-0) had trailed in a game.
However, that lead was short-lived when the Golden Bears struck on a penalty corner of their own three minutes later. Kutztown took the lead for good in the second quarter when Jade Traynor took a pass from her sister, Julia Traynor, in transition and snuck a shot just inside the far left post on West Chester goalkeeper,
Erin O'Brien (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee), in the 20th minute of the match.
Rachel Galasso added an insurance tally with three minutes left in the contest on a penalty corner. It was Galasso's second goal of the game.
O'Brien (8-5) made eight saves in the loss while Kutztown's Lorelai Lehenky (13-0) made four stops for the Golden Bears.
West Chester hits the road this weekend for a PSAC contest at IUP on Saturday at 1 p.m.
