MEET RESULTS

WEST CHESTER, PA – Women's Swimming witnessed four NCAA 'B' Cuts and one pool record during a 160-102 victory over visiting Salisbury University inside Graham Natatorium Saturday afternoon. In all, the Golden Rams claimed first place in eight of the 14 events.

No. 20 West Chester (4-2) put together an impressive swim as the ladies suited up for its dual meet with Salisbury (0-1), which turned in an excellent meet of their own in the Sea Gulls' season opener. The Gulls entered Saturday's meet ranked 18th in Division III.

Freshman Addyson Despeaux (Springfield, Pa. / Springfield) broke the Graham Natatorium record in the 100-yard backstroke with a winning time of 54.85 seconds. Her time of 25.78 backstroke in leading off the 200 medley relay stands as the third-fastest time in Division II so far. Sophomore Michalina Jasinska (Warsaw, Poland) was second in a time of 57.59. Despeaux also won the 200 back in a time of 2 minutes, 04.22 seconds with Jasinska right behind her again in 2:06.40.

Sophomore Greta Saville (Mordialloc, Australia) was also a double winner in the 500 freestyle and the 1000, touching the wall in 4:59.97 and 10:21.16, respectively. Both of those times were NCAA 'B' times as well. Her 500 free is currently the third fastest time in Division II.

Junior Molly Hubal (Archbald, PA Valley View) was a double winner, taking first place in both the 100 breaststroke (1:05.23) and the 200 breast (2:22.53). Sophomore Lava Piuva (Malmo, Sweden) won the 50 free in a time of 23.83 seconds while finishing second in the 100 free in 51.74. Her time of 25.14 leading off the 400 free relay qualifies as an NCAA 'B' Cut time and is currently the 12th-fastest time in Division II as well. Piuva swam a leg of each relay that won on Saturday as well. She swam the anchor leg of the 200 medley relay that took first place to open the meet.

Despeaux, Hubal and Danielle Hinkson (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Alleghany) made up the rest of the 200 medley team. Piuva, Saville, Kayla Reasons (Garnet Valley, PA Garnet Valley) and Sam Heiland (West Chester, Pa. / West Chester East) closed out the meet with a win on the 400 free relay. Hinkson placed second in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:05.00 which is currently the ninth-best time in Division II.

Female seniors Allie DeFrehn (Mullica Hill, N.J. / Clearview Regional), Anna Evans (Lansdale, Pa. / North Penn) and Amy Masciulli (Harleysville, Pa. / Souderton) were honored for their contributions to the Golden Rams swim program over the past four years.
