Women's Golf Finishes Second at PSAC Women's Golf Championships

KUTZTOWN, Pa.-After entering the day in a tie for first with Gannon atop the team leaderboard at the PSAC Women's Golf Championships at Berkleigh Country Club, the West Chester University women's golf team (312, 317, 317; 946) fired a third-round of 317 for the second day in a row, while Gannon  (308, 321, 309; 938) improved by 12-strokes and shot a 309 in the final round as West Chester finished a close second for the second year in a row and Gannon captured its seventh-consecutive PSAC Championship.

Fatima Rizvi (Lucknow, India/RPS Academies) shot the low round of the day for West Chester at +4 (76), including an important birdie on the par-three 12th as she finished her Tournament in a tie for fourth at +18 (76, 80, 76; 234). Hanna Lignell (Gothenburg, Sweden/Kitas Gymnasium) joined Rizvi in a tie for fourth at +18 (76, 80, 78; 234) with a final round of 78, including back-to-back birdies on the par-five 16th and par-four 17th on her way into the clubhouse in her final conference Championship round.

Alexandria LeCuruex climbed from second on Friday to capture the PSAC Individual Championship with a 54-hole score of +11 (75, 79, 73; 227), including a 73 in the final round on Friday. LeCuruex carded three birdies in her final round on Friday, including the par-three third, par-four ninth, and par-three 15th.
Despite placing second to the now seven-time defending Champion Golden Knights, West Chester finished the week first in the field in par-five scoring average at 5.35 (+21) and second in par-three and par-four scoring average at 3.38 (+23) and 4.45 (+68). West Chester also finished the Tournament tied for first in the field in birdies with 21 and second in pars with 135, while Shepherd, thanks to Sara Veara's second-round eagle on Thursday, finished the Tournament as the lone team in the field with an eagle.

Individually, Cara Murphy (Massillon, Ohio/Jackson) tied for first in the field in birdies with six, while Lignell tied for third with five. Murphy also led the field in par-five scoring average this week at +1 (5.08) on the par-fives of Berkleigh Country Club.
