WEST CHESTER, Pa.- Cara Murphy (Massillon, Ohio/Jackson) fired an opening round of 77 (+5) to sit in second on the individual leaderboard and help West Chester hold a one-stroke lead on the team leaderboard with an opening-round team score of 323 after the first round of Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational at Penn Oaks Golf Club on Monday afternoon.
Murphy is one of two Golden Rams in the top-five after Monday's opening round as she is joined by teammate
Hanna Lignell (Gothenberg, Sweden/Kitas Gymnasium), who fired a six-over 78 in the first round on Monday afternoon. Murphy carded four birdies on Monday, including the par-three sixth, par-four ninth, par-four 10
th, and par-five 18
th, while Lignell birdied the par-five fourth, par-four 10
th, and par-five 12
th in her opening round.
Filippa Schulze Doering of Adelphi holds a four-stroke lead on the individual leaderboard after an opening round of 73, which included back-to-back birdies on the par-three third and par-five fourth, along with another on the par-five 12
th, while recording a par on 12 of the other 18 holes on Monday afternoon.
