SCRANTON, Pa.-The West Chester University men's soccer team (4-3-2) went on the road Wednesday afternoon and returned home with its third win and third shutout in its last four matches, as the Golden Rams earned a 3-0 victory over Lackawanna (0-7-2).
Joseph Maxwell (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) scored the game-winner for West Chester as the senior midfielder scored his first goal of the season just under 15 minutes into the first half, giving the Golden Rams a 1-0 halftime lead.
West Chester finished the first half with a 7-3 lead in shots and a 4-2 lead in shots on goal.
In the second half, West Chester did not wait long to double its lead as fellow senior
Ian Alicea (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) added his first goal of the season to stretch the lead to 2-0.
Ryan Rauber (Homer, N.Y./Tully JR-SR) added a final goal with just over three minutes to play to finish the scoring and give the Golden Rams a commanding three-goal advantage.
West Chester finished the game with a 12-4 lead in shots, including a 7-2 lead in shots on goal.
Jaden Howard (Townsend, Del./Middletown) picked up the shutout with two saves in the victory.
Rowin Thomas made four stops for Lackawanna in an attempt to slow the Golden Ram offense.
