Five Things to Know
- West Chester enters play on Wednesday afternoon still in search of its first win of the young season after battling to a 1-1 draw, its second draw in as many games, on Saturday afternoon at Wilmington. Lukas Bentsen (Erie, Pa./McDowell) scored the first goal of the season for West Chester in the 70th minute to erase an early one-goal deficit after Wilmington became the first team to score against West Chester with a goal in the 21st minute.
- The veteran keeper duo of Jaden Howard (Townsend, Del./Middletown) and Alexi Amanatidis (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./The Shipley School) are both 0-0-1 on the season after earning a start against Wilmington and Holy Family, respectively. Howard made seven stops against the potent Wildcat offense on Saturday in Delaware, while Amanatidis made five stops in his season debut against Holy Family at the end of August.
- Mercy enters play on Wednesday with a record of 2-1-1 after opening the season with a one-goal loss on the road at East Stroudsburg in late August, the Mavericks have been unbeaten since including a 4-2 win over Monroe and a 2-0 win over Bridgeport on Sunday afternoon. Against Bridgeport, Mercy opened the scoring just two minutes into the match and scored again in the 42nd minute to take a 2-0 lead into the halftime break, and this lead held in the 2-0 victory.
- Jacob Darwesh Lund-Iversen scored the game-winner on Saturday and has scored a team-best three goals with one assist for seven points to lead the team in scoring. Mario De Roque Zazon is second on the team in scoring with two goals for four points on the season. Harry Cooke is 1-0-1 in goal with eight saves and a 0.00 goals-against average, while Sean Green is 1-1-0 with nine stops and a 1.50 goals-against average.
- West Chester opens PSAC East play on Saturday at Shippensburg, but before the Golden Rams can shift their focus to this non-league clash with Mercy. 5-0 to start the series, West Chester is winless in the last two meetings, including a 4-0 loss at Mercy in 2024 and a 3-3 draw on Rockwell Field in driving rain last September.
