DOBBS FERRY, N.Y.- Searching for its first win of the season, the West Chester University men's soccer team (0-1-2) carried a 2-1 lead into the halftime break but fell to Mercy (3-1-1) after the Mavericks scored a pair of goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half in a 3-2 victory over the Golden Rams.

Mercy scored first just under four minutes into the match when Jacob Darwesh Lund-Iversen scored the first goal of his hat trick on Wednesday afternoon to give the hosts an early 1-0 lead.

Maksym Komperda (Whitehall, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) scored the equalizer for West Chester in the 15^th minute off an assist from Luke Newman (Mission Viejo, Ca./Santa Margarita Catholic), which tied the match at 1-1.

Lukas Bentsen (Erie, Pa./McDowell) followed this up with his second goal in as many matches in the 23^rd minute, which gave West Chester a 2-1 lead, its first of the season, heading into the halftime break.

Jaden Howard (Townsend, Del./Middletown) got the start in goal for West Chester, making three saves in the first 45 minutes of action before exiting for Alexi Amanatidis (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./The Shipley School), who played the final 45 minutes.

Amanatidis made four stops of his own in the second half, but Lund-Inversen found the back of the net two more times for his first hat trick of the season, which lifted the Mavericks to the victory.

Harry Cooke played the full 90 minutes in goal for Mercy and made five saves as he earned his second victory of the young season.

West Chester ended the match with a 14-12 lead in shots, although Mercy finished the night with a 10-7 lead in shots on goal and a 5-2 lead in corners.
