The WCU Department of Sports Medicine, within the College of Health Sciences, has as its primary role the preparation of students for careers in athletic training and related health care fields. Vital to the safety and welfare of the student-athlete, certified athletic trainers from the department of sports medicine provide sports medicine services to student-athletes under the direction of supervising team physician, Dr. Arthur Bartolozzi, MD.  Faculty Athletic Trainers and Graduate Assistants provide the highest quality evidence-based care and education of the student-athlete in the domains of injury prevention, management, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.  Our primary service center is the Sturzebecker Health Sciences Center Athletic Training Facility.  We also have one satellite facility on north campus that is available in the morning and accessible to teams practicing or competing on the north campus.
