Surface: dirt and clay infield mix with a natural grass outfield
The WCU Softball field is situated between the Sturzebecker Health Science Center and the South Campus Tennis Courts, and is home to the varsity softball team. The field features bleacher seating behind home plate for 150 fans and provides seating on the hill behind the first-base dugout. A new bullpen was installed outside the fenced-in playing facility that contains three pitching rubbers and home plates. The field recently underwent a substantial renovation, which included the construction of new larger, and updated dugouts, new fencing, playing surface enhancements, a new irrigation system, and the installation of a new batting cage behind the third-base dugout. The softball field has served as host for the first round of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament in 2010 as well as the NCAA Division II Softball Atlantic Super Regional in 2014, 2017, 2018 and 2019. West Chester’s softball program is perennially one of the top programs in the region.
