The 2006 season was memorable one for the West Chester University Golden Rams - an undefeated regular season, a PSAC tournament Championship, a third consecutive trip to the NCAA playoffs and a berth in the National Semifinals.
The memories and honors of a historical season continued today as three Golden Rams were named to the 2006 NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division II Women All-America Team. Senior defender Casey McKinney and Senior forward Julie Karcher were named to the First Team for the second consecutive year while Sophomore Goalkeeper Hillary Smart was selected to the third team.
Senior defender Casey McKinney played a major role the Golden Rams undefeated regular season. A threat on both sides of the field, McKinney recorded three goals for the Rams while anchoring the West Chester defense. She was also named the 2006 PSAC Eastern Division Athlete of the Year.
Senior forward Julie Karcher was the Golden Rams offensive leader this season, breaking the single season points record with 52. She also led the Rams in goals, scoring 21 times on the season.
Goalkeeper Hilary Smart made 54 saves, while allowing only 13 goals this season. Smart recorded 5 shutouts in her 21 wins for the Golden Rams, and led the PSAC with a 0.61 goals against average.
