WEST CHESTER, Pa.
- West Chester University welcomes back an old friend on Homecoming weekend as the Golden Rams take on the Shippensburg University Red Raiders in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference football showdown Saturday afternoon at Farrell Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.

Shippensburg is coached by West Chester University alumn and former gridiron great Rocky Rees (’71), who brings his Raiders into Farrell Stadium with a 3-4 overall record and a 2-2 slate in the league. The Golden Rams enter 5-2 overall and undefeated at 4-0 in conference play tied with Bloomsburg atop the Eastern Division standings. Saturday’s homecoming event promises to be an exciting tilt.

West Chester moved up one spot into sixth place in the latest Super Region One regional poll this week. The regional poll helps the NCAA selection committee pick the 24-team NCAA Tournament field at the end of the season. Six teams from four regions are selected to participate in the postseason for the national championship.

The Golden Rams are on a collision course with No. 6 Bloomsburg at the end of the season for the Eastern Division crown and the right to play in the PSAC Championship Game. Shippensburg is the next test that stands in their way this Saturday. West Chester brings a four-game winning streak on the year into the grudge match. The Red Raiders have not beaten the Rams since a 24-21 overtime decision in 2004. Shippensburg’s modest two-game win streak was snapped last week when Kutztown defeated the Raiders at home, 42-21. Rees and his charges will try to bounce back from that loss here today against the Rams.

Question marks still persist for West Chester in the running game. However, freshman Jackson Fagan gets the call at tailback for the third straight week on Saturday. Backing him up will be senior Andrew Taylor, who has converted to the backfield from his position at wide receiver.
