WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester dropped its regular-season finale at home to Shippensburg, 3-1, in a PSAC East women's volleyball match inside Hollinger Field House, 23-25, 25-22, 18-25, 23-25.
The loss does not affect the Golden Rams' playoff position. West Chester (23-9) will host third-seeded Shippensburg on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the PSAC postseason tournament.
The Rams are making their fourth consecutive trip to the league tournament. This time they are the No. 2 seed after finishing behind Lock Haven in the Eastern Division. It marks the highest seed West Chester has attained entering the postseason.
The Golden Rams still entertain hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Regionals, which follow the PSAC Tournament. However, West Chester will need a strong showing in the league playoffs to state their case.
A rematch with the Raiders is the first step in that process. A win on Tuesday in the quarterfinals would send West Chester to California (Pa.) for the weekend, assuming the Vulcans are not upset in their quarterfinal match.
