Box Score
WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Renata Neal poured in a career-high 21 points, and Megan Stewart scored 17 and tied a school record with nine steals to lead host West Chester to a 91-63 rout of visiting Goldey-Beacom in a non-league women’s basketball contest Saturday afternoon at Hollinger Field House.
Neal was 9 of 11 from the field and grabbed seven rebounds as a huge spark off the bench for the Golden Rams (6-2), who bounced back with authority from a sluggish performance at Holy Family their last time out. Stewart tied the school record for steals in a game early in the second half as West Chester’s stifling defense haunted the Lightning all afternoon.
The Rams defense forced 20 turnovers and recorded 17 steals while limiting the Lightning to just 35.9 percent shooting for the game.
Neal hit a jumper midway through the first half to push West Chester’s lead to double figures (25-15), and the Golden Rams then closed the half on a 24-11 run that put the game out of reach at the break.
Mary Kate Serratelli had eight points and eight rebounds off the bench for West Chester as well. Janelle Garber scored eight points. Fourteen different players etched their name in the Rams’ scorebook on the day.
Goldey Beacom was led by Janae Weldon’s 20 points and Kellyn Nolan’s 12.
West Chester will be back in action at Hollinger Field House after the new year with a weekend doubleheader Jan. 3 and 4 against California (Pa.) and Indiana (Pa.), respectively.
