West Chester Men Can’t Handle Penn, 186-112

Meet Results

WEST CHESTER, Pa.
– Visiting Penn captured 12 of the 16 events to take the non-league men’s swimming meet from host West Chester, 186-112, Friday night at Graham Natatorium.

West Chester (6-1) took the top two spots in three of the team’s four wins, but Penn proved to be too deep for the Golden Rams to compete.

Matt Golebiewski was a double winner, taking top honors in the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.09) and the 100 free (46.22). Brendan Fanslau won the 50 free in 21.33 and placed second behind Golebiewski in the 100 free with a time of 47.34.

David Smoker was West Chester’s only other winner on the day, placing first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 52.46.

Friday’s competition was the final home meet for four seniors, including Golebiewski. West Chester concludes its regular-season slate Saturday afternoon with a dual meet at PSAC rival Bloomsburg at 1 p.m.
