West Chester Men Hang On To Defeat East Stroudsburg, 73-68

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa.
– Ralph Hegamin scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds, and Kehinde Roberts posted 14 points and eight boards to lead visiting West Chester to a 73-68 victory over host East Stroudsburg in a PSAC East clash inside Koehler Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.

West Chester (13-6, 4-2 PSAC East) moved into sole possession of fourth place in the Eastern Division standings with the win, knocking East Stroudsburg (12-7, 3-3) out of a playoff spot momentarily.

Trailing 65-62 with three minutes left in the game, Hegamin converted on a layup and Kenneth St. George (15 points) knocked down two foul shots to give the Golden Rams a one-point advantage.

ESU missed on a 3-point attempt, and St. George corralled the rebound. Sam Scott (8 points) hit a jumper that put WCU up 68-65 with 1:27 to play.

Chris Bach nailed two foul shots to draw the hosts to within one. However, Roberts converted two free throws of his own with 31 second left to restore West Chester’s three-point lead.

West Chester hit three of its four foul shots down the stretch while East Stroudsburg misfired on two 3-point attempts and could only muster one foul shot the rest of the way.

Sandy Tanner contributed 12 points, giving West Chester four starters who scored in double figures on the night. Scott grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds to go with his eight-point day.

Aaron Pinckney scored 13 points for ESU, and Robby Pines had 12.

West Chester hit 17 of its 21 foul shots (81 percent) and outrebounded East Stroudsburg 41-26.

West Chester travels to Shippensburg next Wednesday for an 8 p.m. tilt with the Raiders before visiting Millersville on Saturday at 3 p.m.
