Game Notes
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - West Chester University heads to Long Island for its PSAC East showdown with C.W. Post Saturday at Hickox Stadium at 1 p.m. The Golden Rams and Pioneers are both 2-1 in league play and fighting for their playoff lives.
West Chester (3-3, 2-1) is coming off a disappointing one-point loss to East Stroudsburg last weekend on Homecoming. C.W. Post (2-4, 2-1) is coming off an uplifting 40-24 victory over Shippensburg on a rain-soaked Homecoming weekend last Saturday.
The Golden Rams and Pioneers are both in a three-way tie for second place in the Eastern Division standings, all are one game back of Bloomsburg.
Post running back Thomas Beverly enters Saturday as the league's second-leading rusher, averaging 94 yards per contest. The last time West Chester faced the league's second-leading ball carrier, it held Kutztown's Dontay Wilson to 21 yards rushing. However, Beverly is coming off a spectacular weekend against Shippensburg and was named the PSAC Eastern Division offensive player of the week.
The Golden Rams are smarting from some more injuries, which have hindered the team's progress all season. Sophomore OG Gerry Penrose was lost during the week and will miss Saturday's game versus Post. Fortunately, West Chester head coach Bill Zwaan believes he will only be out this week and will return for the Shippensburg game. Additionally, sophomore LB Andrew Sheehan was also lost last week in the East Stroudsburg game. He is out for the rest of the season.
