WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Lexi Kegerise registered a career-high 24 kills and Helen Fitzpatrick dished out 52 assists to lead West Chester University to a thrilling 3-2 victory over Slippery Rock in the final match of the day at Hollinger Field House on Saturday.
The Golden Rams (12-9) dropped its first match, 3-0, to Clarion during the PSAC Crossover weekend round-robin.
West Chester trailed Slippery Rock 11-9 in the fifth and deciding set when Kegerise was inserted back into the lineup and provided the spark the Rams needed to finish off The Rock. West Chester went on a 7-3 run to close out the come-from-behind win. The Golden Rams scored the victory 22-25, 27-25, 20-25, 25-18, 16-14.
Kegerise added nine digs and three blocks to her career night. Michelle Powers added 13 kills and Kelly Martin 10 to support the Rams’ offensive effort. Lisa Campbell registered a team-high 19 digs while Fitzpatrick and Kyra Yost each posted 17 as well.
West Chester trailed 2-1 in sets when it took control of the fourth set and tied up the match with a 25-18 victory.
Earlier in the day, Clarion dictated the pace of the match en route to the 3-0 win by scores of 25-11, 26-24, 25-21. Kegerise and Powers each posted six kills in that loss. Fitzpatrick registered 22 assists and Campbell 10 digs.
West Chester continues to host the PSAC Crossover Saturday morning with four more matches scheduled to get under way beginning at 10 a.m. at Hollinger Field House.
