WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Sweeper Zach Weaver has been named to the Daktronics, Inc. All-Region second-team in voting conducted by sports information directors at NCAA Division II institutions located in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
Weaver was a solid force on defense for the Golden Rams in 2009 and was widely considered one of the best sweepers in the PSAC during his playing career. The Lancaster, Pa. native recorded six goals to tie for the team lead. The senior also added an assist, tying him for the team lead in points with 13.
This is the second honor in seven days for Weaver, who was selected to the All-PSAC East squad earlier this week.
Slippery Rock forward Jeremy Deighton was named the Division II Atlantic-Region Player of the Year. Deighton had 21 goals and seven assists in leading his team to the Atlantic Region final.
