Dowling Men's Tennis Tops West Chester, 7-2

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - John Howanski and Alan Day picked up wins at Nos. 3 and 4 singles, respectively, however, visiting Dowling upended host West Chester University, 7-2, in a non-league men's tennis match on a balmy Friday afternoon.

West Chester (2-13) has seen consistent play from Day during the spring portion of the schedule. Day rebounded after dropping the opening set to capture the next two pick up his seventh win of the season and end a personal two-match losing skid. He is 7-8 individually on the year, but 7-5 in the spring.

Howanski ended a seven-match losing streak with his first win at No. 3 singles since March 24. He went to three sets, but took the third set easily, 6-1. He won the tie-breaker in the opening set to escape with a 7-6 (2) win.

Mike Ensor extended his opponent at No. 5 singles to three sets, but could not prevail.
