KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Alyssa Brown turned in a huge morning in the first match of the day and Brooke Foskey authored two solid efforts to lead West Chester University to a pair of 3-0 wins over Elizabeth City State and Chowan, respectively, at the Kutztown Tournament Saturday.
West Chester (3-1) ended the weekend tournament with a 2-1 mark after dropping a disappointing match to Philadelphia University Friday night. The Golden Rams downed Elizabeth City State 25-20, 25-15, 25-21 and Chowan 25-16, 25-14, 25-15).
Lisa Campbell posted 10 digs in the opener against Elizabeth City State and added another 19 in the nightcap against Chowan. Michelle Powers registered eight kills in the first match and six in the second.
However, it was Brown who came up big against Elizabeth City State. The local product finished off 13 kills on 19 attempts, contibuted four service aces and picked up two blocks. West Chester registered nine blocks on the day against ECSU.
Foskey posted nine kills in the opener and added another six in the second to go along with eight digs.
Helen Fitzpatrick dished out 32 assists against Elizabeth City State and another 19 against Chowan to continue her fine performance. Ashley Focht (Avon Grove, Pa./West Grove) recorded four blocks against Chowan.
