BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – West Chester University shot a miserable 28 percent from the field and didn’t put one player in double figures in the scoring column en route to a 57-48 defeat on the road at the hands of Bloomsburg Saturday afternoon in a PSAC women’s basketball tilt inside Nelson Field House.
West Chester (10-5, 0-2 PSAC East) lost its second straight road contest and has opened up PSAC East play with an 0-2 record after being selected the preseason favorite to win the division at the beginning of the year. Bloomsburg (10-4, 2-0) continues its turnaround season with the league win over the Golden Rams.
Mary Kate Serratelli and Renata Neal each were high scorers for West Chester with eight points apiece. Alex Lennon scored six points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked four shots in 12 minutes of play.
The Golden Rams held a 10-point lead at halftime (32-22), but managed just a 6-for-26 effort from the field in the second half and were held to 16 points. The Huskies outscored their visitors 35-16 in the final 20 minutes to come from behind for the win.
Bloomsburg was led by Dana Wieller’s 18 points and Kayla Oxenrider’s 16. The Huskies’ defense forced 29 West Chester turnovers in the contest.
