Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Mike Mattei’s two-point conversion pass attempt in the third overtime was batted down in the back of the end zone giving visiting C.W. Post a 39-37 victory over the homestanding Golden Rams before a homecoming crowd of 4,380 at John A. Farrell Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Mattei threw for a career-high 329 yards on 30-of-45 passing and two touchdowns. Jackson Fagan caught a career high 11 passes for a career best 112 yards as well. But it was not enough to overcome three turnovers and eight penalties.

Both C.W. Post and West Chester scored touchdowns on their first overtime possessions. The Golden Rams fumbled away their second OT chance, but stopped C.W. Post on three downs and forced a 46-yard field goal attempt that was no good. The Pioneers then marched in for a touchdown in the third overtime. Erik Anderwkavich’s two-point conversion pass was completed in the end zone. West Chester then answered C.W. Post’s TD drive with a score of its own on a flair pass to Rondell White (West Chester, Pa./East) on 3rd-and-Goal. However, the conversion attempt was knocked down, giving Post the thrilling victory.

Jackson Fagan finished with 172 all-purpose yards in the game. West Chester converted 11 of 18 third-down opportunities.
